Snowboarding

Snowboarding is a relatively young sport branch. Being a very “flashy” sport, especially for media, especially for the younger generation it saw an exceptional expansion with the younger population. Starting from the nineties in the last century the first competitions took place, and when the “fever” caught the world, in 1996 the first world contest was held. In the winter Olympics 1998, in Nagano, snowboarding was for the first time included into the officially held Olympic contests.



Nowadays, this very attractive sport, assembles hundreds of thousands of enthusiasts, but professionals as well, all over the world. Contests in the very attractive snowboarding disciplines held in the most famous world winter sport centers, are in the center of attention of tens of thousands of spectators.



Besides all that, snowboarding is not only an extreme sport: it is also fashion styling, way of living, music....in short the newest of the global movements.

The natural conditions on the Durmitor mountain , with its attractions of a very varied nature in a comparatively restricted area, makes snowboarding very attractive not only on some of the very well known ski centers like Durmitor, Bjelasica, Vucje, but also in some very new, till now unknown places. Snowboarding is a sport which seeks challenges, finding of new tracks, slopes, passages...faster, steeper, more dangerous. The very essence of this new sport is creating a new image of the Montenegro sport and tourism in promoting the extreme sports, and as the King among them, snowboarding.

THE Snowboard club »Savin kuk«

The snowboard club “Savin kuk” was founded in 1999, as a wish, and a need, to increase the number of organized young sportsmen from Montenegro participating in this very popular and in the meanwhile, Olympic sport. At the first moment conceived to gather the youngsters from the Durmitor area, it very soon burst all frames, and today, thanks in the first place to its youngest competitors and members – the pioneer and youth sections – it is The snowboarding club of Montenegro and Serbia.

The club owns two snowboard objects in the most attractive locations on Savin kuk as well as with forty complete snowboard gears. Not to mention the fun side: the personnel from the “Snowboard cafe” will take care of it.
